Great mix and comments that put the rest of us to shame. Bravo!
Diggin' the roots . . . if only music history was taught along with the 3 R's, this mix
would be a required text . . . --- but - "Goatburger Boogie" !!?! - somehow my own musical education never covered that -- hope to hear it some day.

Incredible! Love it.
Tennessee Ernie is one of my faves.
Tennessee Ernie is one of my faves.
Oh man, this is TOO amazing - Merle Travis (who's in serious need of a single artist mix) kicks ass. Jimmie Rodgers is also top-notch. Hank, Red, Maddox.... this is MY mix of the week. I love this.
So, I think we found our next mix of the week. Oh, Sean already said that. This is absolutely awesome. I don't know what else to say. I keep looking it up and down and saying "Wow."
Awesome! love the extensive liner notes as well. swingin' boogie woogie Texas tornadoe!
Respect ! Respect !
Great. That's quite an epic you've composed above.
This is what the site is all about. What a work of art!!"Fantastic" about sums it up.Given the wide range of recording dates, did you have to do much normalizing of volumes using some kind of wave editor such as Nero? I know I owe you a few, but PLEASE save me a copy for later.
Boogie on - this is awesome.
Holy shit - I was impressed at the track listing, but then I hit your comments and was just flabbergasted. I love to see someone so damn enthusiastic about music nd wanting to share. Great great stuff. I obviously love talking to meeting people that have a large common ground with me musically, but I get excited to find someone that is so well entrenched in a music I only know a little about but want to know more. And looking at your other mixxes I can see that you are hardcore.
I can't add anything to what the guys say. Sheer brilliance, as ever. Mix of the week by far, and best liner notes I've ever seen on an AOTM compilation.
Excellent, amazing work (and picks) all round. This mos' def looks like a freakin' must-have. Care for another trade i teh near future? (You know I do write liner notes just like these, but I'd never have thought of POSTING 'em.)
Exhaustive and pure Onnish..!
what they all said, awesome liner notes and great mix
Just when I think I know something about music, a post like this comes along and immediately humbles me. This is fabulous. If this doesn't deserve MOTW, I don't know what does.
As usual, on-beyond-great! And everything they all said. Respect and props and all that jazz!
Drop-dead effin' brilliant! Having listened to this twice now, (down in the labs, during afternoon playoff games), it keeps making me smile and nod. A seamless travelogue of the title's guiding proclamation. That the nascent rock 'n roll scene was borne from the bosom of the likes of the Skillet Lickers & Ella Mae, et al, may seem a stretch to those who haven't heard this. Get wise, get this. (I'm keeping my copy. Safe.)
Thanks for your kind comments about my Rock 'n Roll collection... I can see we have both covered a similar sort of ground... though there are a lot of songs here I don't know... as I get older I have become more and more intrigued with the roots (and branches) of the music I love most i.e. 70's rock.
