Comment:

"Around the World in 64 minutes" would be more to the point. I guess the principle is clear: One track for each stop of Phileas Fogg and Passepartout's journey. Actually, this was intended to be posted on the release date of a friend's brilliant new German translation of Jules Verne's classic novel, but since I couldn't find some of the tracks I was looking for, this took a little longer to put together. Xtra special thanks for helping me out go to Valis (tracks 3 & 14) and Ion Moe (tracks 5 & 8). To make this a veritable musical "world tour", it starts off with a British dancehall song from 1937 and then goes on to sunshiny Beach Boys-type pop fluff, industrial, classical, trip hop, hip hop, Indian 70s beats, indie rock, a little prog, a jolly-by-golly anti-Japanese WW2 song, a Genesis(!) cover (which I think is far superior to the gruesome original) and a bit of folk before it goes into a final round of dub. I originally wanted to include dialog snippets from Michael Anderson's classic 1956 movie, but most unfortunately it hasn't been released on DVD yet. So maybe I'll do a revised version some day . . . ;)

A whirlwind to be sure..! Passepartout earned his buttling money on this adventure. Let us know what your friend thinks. (p-I don't think Fogg went the northern route:)

At last, the perfect disc for a balloon ride. Or for sitting on the back porch, gazing at the sky and dreaming of balloon rides. Nice work, Thomas.

Awesome stuff as expected, Thomas. A tremendous idea, with well thought out cuts, well, the ones I know are great! By the way, which one are you, The reader or the dj (In the picture)? Valis says "You are marmot bacon". I haven't a clue what this means, but he seems to think it's significant! (Sorry for the lateness of the delivery of the insult, Valis old chum)

This is so very cool. Why is Beefheart not considered a living God? I don't understand it.

This is cool. I remember a Saturday morning cartoon version of Around The World In 80 Days from when I was a kid, sometime back in the mid-70s.

great idea , nice job. I love reading Verne, he was so far ahead of his time. The list of inventions that he predicted in his writings is endless.

It's supercircumnavigational! What's next? 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or From Earth to the Moon?

Wow. Um, yeah, wow...this mix, like air travel, leaves me a bit tipsy.p.s. Did you ask me to drop you a line or drop the ball? 'Cause I dropped the ball and then I'm thinkin', "I'd better drop him a line too, just to cover my ass." In any event, I owe you some emails...

Nice one, Thomas. I've toyed with travelogue type mixes before but this Jules Verne twist is most excellent.
