Comment:
Yeah, I know u gonna think I traded in my Rock'n'Roll heart for kids songs - but this mix ain't for me - it's for my painter friend in France and her family - the over abundance of Elvis is cos they mighty big Elvis Fans and so am I - deadly combination for My mix tapes - as u can see Side A follows a sort of 2 song theme - I think good fun and great for children and adults alike - well I would cos I made it - if I didn't I wouldn't be sending it right - Side B is kind of just for her - designed for black coffee - wanted to find songs that spoke to me (yeah I speak to myself on occasions) and threw up great images - it's difficult finding songs for a Painter - She's a big fan of Mahler - and Mahler ain't Satie if u know wot I mean - neither is he Schoenberg...I like the weight of this side - it feels painterly without resorting to ambient music - when I used to paint music kind of directed the brush stroke - suggested new marks - now I write the experience is different...anyway I'll be interested with how she gets on with Karen Dalton's exquisite interpretation of Fred Neils Just a little bit of rain - if I could only write like that. See ya.Feedback:
Painter Man by The Creation would work here. It's all about the hardships of being a painter, not knowing where your next check is coming from and contemplating whether to sell out and do advertisements. "Painter Man! Painter Man! Who would be a Painter Man?"
cool. I fell in love with Francoise Hardy when I was younger. She's beautiful.
Super kewl. Too many great tunes to single out one.
