This is my first mix that I've submitted. I have had this mix on my iPod for the last couple weeks and I absolutely love it. The first song gives a good preview of what's to come. 'Androgynous Mind' is a very groovy song that also feels intrusive and uncomfortable. The twisted vocal stylings of Thurston Moore in this song starts to develop the driving rhythms of this mix. From Lightning Bolt to The Raveonettes, the rock don't stop. Groovable rhythms and extremely catchy vocals are present one way or another in all of these songs. But as "Staring At The Sun" begins, the grooves give way to more introverted feelings of love and desperation. The mood goes from Bad to Worse as "Big Drop" - Black Dice's 17 minute opus roars through your headphones. Its sickeningly beautiful soundscapes will make you feel like you're jumping into the grand canyon, feeling exhilirated - only to land in hell. No other song but "Ian Curtis Wishlist" could end this mix. No band can put emotions to tape quite like Xiu Xiu. Hope you like!
