a soundtrack to nothing

Artist Song
vanity kissed vanity  long drawn frenzy of sensuality
cursive  the recluse
the postal service  such great heights
saves the day  driving in the dark
copeland  there cannot be a close second
jamison/parker  dead to the world
him  right here in my arms
the jealous sound  anxious arms
matt skiba  next to you
something corporate  down
alkaline trio  every thug needs a lady
the rocket summer  tv family
dashboard confessional  as lovers go
the format   let's make this moment a crime
armor for sleep  kind of perfect
polaris  she is staggering
the eels  p.s. you rock my world
death cab for cutie  wait
straylight run  extentialism on prom night
the velvet teen  super me

Comment:

a new school year brings a new girl into my life. i spent hours choosing the right cover, title, songs, and their order. the hardest i've worked on a mix, but also the most rewarding. all for funniest, brightest, most beautiful girl i know. this says everything i've wanted to, but when i gave it to her, i got the distinct feeling that it was the wrong thing to do...i don't know what i'd do if she doesn't like it. eh, just hope for the best i guess.

That Rocket Summer song rocks- I found it accidentally a few months ago, + put it on a mix right away 'cause it's just so damn good. You're giving this a girl + calling it "A Soundtrack to Nothing"? Look man, I'm no scholar, but if the title is implying that what you've got with this girl is NOTHING (+ it does imply that) then no wonder she balked. Why work so hard on something + then label it as an effort in the name of NOTHING. Argh! Out.

well, i have to agree with dru's comments on the implications of the title - but as soon as she listens to it, or even reads the track listing, all will become clear. so don't worry!

i totally understand where you were coming from with the title issue, but i didn't want to be too forward. since our relationship is at a 'nothing' level right now, in retrospect it seems perfect.
