Comment:

my b-friend and I have a big, private backyard in our new apartment (rare in NYC) and I have become a bit fanatical about gardening lately. Hence, this mix. I also made it for my friend in CA, who loves her garden, too! :)

Some selections are a bit of a stretch as far as "theme" goes, but I don't care b/c I love the flow of the mix.

No Pearl Jam? "I will walk through your Garden of stone"

Very nice! You must have a green thumb. Not that you care, but the garden in Ricky Nelson's song is in reference to Madison Square Garden.

Well exececuted theme disc. Nice, really listenable variety! If the garden bug still has before winter and you do a sequel disc you can include The Move's "Flowers in the Rain" and XTC's "Garden of Earthly Delights"!

Hee! Dale, I had both those songs on my list! (But niether was accessible to me at the time I burned the cd.) And Ion Moe, that is a totally interesting Ricky Nelson tidbit. I had no idea. :)

I could care less about gardening but I do like this mix! Why not use Mind Gardens by the Byrds instead of Turn, Turn, Turn? Love, love, love the Stones pick. "And I won't forget ta put roses on your grave..."

Ooh, I missed this when it came out.
Some great ones here (though "in a gadda da vida" IS kind of a stretch!).
Maybe I can trade you something for this one?

Nice idea (and a great lead-off track too)! I try to transform my small balcony into an Eden-like sanctuary every spring, but it always falls prey to the aphids from hell. Hmmm . . . how about The Beatles' Octopus's Garden, or is that too much of a stretch?

Nifty idea, well exicuted. A bit of a stretch for a garden theme, but you should check out the song "First Day of Spring" by a group called "The Gandharvas".

joey de vivre - "in a gadda da vida" is said to be the slurred words from the lead singer as he was too intoxicated to say/sing "In the Garden of Eden".

Very nice (though of course I would've gone for the XTC song by the same name instead of Presidents of the USA). "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" is a particularly amusing choice. Some other possibilities if you do another one: Monochrome Set, "Black Are the Flowers"; Ed's Redeeming Qualities, "Swiss Chard"; Tears for Fears, "Sowing the Seeds of Love"; The Residents, "Krafty Cheese" (not thematically obvious from the title, but the lyrics go "Upward to the sun we grow / Careful, plants / Be careful, plants")

Oh, that song's not by the Presidents of the USA. Whoops. That's what I get for skimming.
