She left you a song that you don't want to sing
Comment:
My newly-revised version of this mix which was originally posted over two years ago. Since then, I've become a little tired of Conor (who has become some sort of ubersensitive indie pin-up boy) and his friends (particularly when he attempts--with increasing frequency--to unleash barrages of half-assed political commentary both in and between his songs), but I can't help but love a lot of his stuff. In fact, as much as I hate this fact, Bright Eyes is one of my favorite current "bands." But although I love all of the songs here and had to cut others--most notably "Drunk Kid Catholic" and "The Center of the World"--there will not be a volume two.Feedback:
i didn't think you liked this kind of thing, but hey, i like surprises. :)
I still find it difficult to get into his stuff, bt I like a few songs. I personally like "Haligh, A Lie" and "Lover I Don't Have To Love".
despite that massive collection of his stuff that i did over the weekend, i haven't listened to a lot of bright eyes either. i suppose i will when he comes 'round these parts again, or when his new album comes out.
I like Bright Eyes, but I agree with your assessment, Rob, of Conor as an "ubersensitive indie pinup boy." I have a friend in Omaha who delights in teasing precious Conor Oberst whenever she sees him in the local bars. He is so worried about sustaining his indie cred that his fears dictate what drinks he orders. Silly Conor.
i have to agree that i'm surprised as well, but the only album i heard of his was the first one with all the e6 credits and a few of those songs i enjoyed, particularly, the city has sex, but i became severely disillusioned after seeing the live act
