Comment:
Pierce was one of the last great front men...Morrison crossed with Brando...I remember seeing Gun Club in London and Pierce spent most of the gig on his back, out of view and wailing while Paricia Morrison provided the lust factor....somehow it seemed totally appropiate andas a gig it stands out with Birthday Party, Triffids and Bauhaus...
Feedback:
Great band/mix.
Ditto lo-fi's words. For me it would be hard to make a Gun Club and NOT include the entire first album. "She's Like Heroin To Me" is one of the most man on-the-verge-of-crazy songs I've ever heard.I'm a little jealous you saw Birthday Party, but the Triffids?!? They're on my short list of a dozen artists I started tracking records for a best of (I don't have all the Triffids stuff, but enough to make a decent comp).
I've recently started getting into these guys. Awesomw stuff.
What Dale said. Totally great. I'm a big fan of Ward Dotson in this band, and all of his later work.
I may be interested in a trade for this someday, Dom. Let me know if you're up for it.
Yeah, I also don't think I could exclude anything from the first album. But this is a first rate collection. And to have seen both GC and BP live - I bow before you!
Eeessh, sorry about the title duplication. I obviously saw this when you posted it, but had no recollection of it when I did my own. However, I can't think of a better title...
I just started exploring your list of mixes and being a huge gun club fan...had to check this out. I saw them play countless times and there was just nothing like JLP...
