Comment:
80 minutes from my favorite member of the Wainwright clan (which also includes the very fine Martha, the quite fine Loudon III, and the reasonably interesting Kate McGarrigle). I can't help it--I just really, really love his voice. And Poses is a classic album. (Updated 8/31/07.)Feedback:
beautiful, rob.
I especially like "April Fools" and his cover of "One Man Guy", with his sister. Man, that just kills me.
too bad "gray gardens" didn't make it onto this. he played at my school cuz his half-sister (Roche family) went here.
I've never really heard much of him, Rob, so this'll go on our next trade. Soon, hopefully
What Gerry said! I'm more familiar with his father Loudon!
Hi Rob - he was pretty good a couple of years ago opening for Roxy Music. I think the sis was on hand for a duet or two, but I forget - I was anticipating the headliner too too much.
You had me hooked the first time I heard his cover of Hallelujah on your Major Fall and the Minor Lift mix. I've since become a big fan of both his work and your mixed genre mixes. Nicely done!
I agree with you 'bout the voice Rob, he could sing the phonebook and I'd buy it. His version of "Hallelujah" is damn near definitive, second only to Cale's as far as I'm concerned.
It's my favorite version, to be honest, followed by Mr. Cale's.
Top notch Rob, really and truly, I havent even read the comments but if someone brings up Jeff Buckley I will direct them to this mix. I 'm not sure of your stance but for all Rufus's affectations he is a wonderful songwriter and the Buckley comparisons really grate on me. Sure he was good but his dad was better and I think Rufus can put Loudons(all be it an alive ) ghost to bed. Really wonderful but shhhh not to give the game away, I had a Martha,Loudon,Rufus,Kate mix called 'At home With The Wainwrights' worth posting do ya think?
