Comment:

Miramax is filming the movie of "Proof" on my college campus, which means that Jake Gyllenhaal, Anthony Hopkins, and Gwenyth Paltrow are just constantly wandering around-- not to mention the lead singer of Coldplay, who is Gwenyth's boyfriend. Today I was an extra in one of the crowd scenes, and I realised suddenly and painfully: it is such an enormous thing to sit for fourteen hours in the same room as a movie star, and for him never once to glance your way. There is great tragedy and unfairness in the impact that Jake Gyllenhaal's presence can have on me, while he remains blissfully unaware of my own presence. This is a mix of songs that captures that moment of realising that you will never, ever date-- or even talk to-- a movie star. Most of these songs are about Hollywood or movies, some of them are just about wanting to boy you'll never get, and the most perfect song to describe how I feel is LFO's "Girl On TV"-- shallow, it's true, but maybe my love for Jake Gyllenhaal is shallow, too. It's always possible.

Once me and my brother ended up at a premiere party in London. We were really drunk and my bro decided he would try and score with Neve Campbell. He got as far as touching her shoulder before five apes appeared out of nowhere and literally threw him out the door. It was hilarious. So, we know your situation.

as soon as i saw the mix title, "paint a vulgar picture" popped into my head! it's nice to find it here. i'm not entirely happy about the matchbox 20 pick, but apart from that, very good. i really do feel for you. i have a pic of him up on the wall at school and he just blows away the competition, poster-wise. at least you got to be there! yay?

here's the thing: in spite of my incredible music snobbery, I freely and often admit that mb20 is my favourite band. I don't care if they are mainstream or typical, I love them to death and beyond and they are forever ending up on mixes where they might not actually belong. Just a character flaw of mine. I actually do like Back 2 Good on this mix, because it makes me think of all those times when you get with guys who aren't movie stars, who aren't even close to being movie stars, but you want someone so badly that you just forget that they're not the someone that you want. That was the rationale behind that one song.

oh and yeah, not meeting/talking to him, that would've been hugely painful! I feel for you...
