Comment:

One of my favorite years in music, his mix started off with Doris Troy's "Just One Look," from that song I decided I wanted to make a mix of nothing but songs from 1963. But on inspection I realized most of the songs from that era that people know about, are just well songs everyone knows about. To counter that affect, I ultimately made the cd in chronological order of what went on during that year, and speech clips of important events. I unfortunately couldn't get some clips, ie: cassius clay interview with jack buck, and I couldn't find anything on Women's Lib/Equal Pay Act. But I tried to work with the Women's Lib movement by using the "I'm A Woman" by Peggy Lee. Also during '63, some the Beach Boys, Angels, Rolling Stones, Same Cooke, Chiffons, Bob Dylan, motown and folk music gained popularity.Anyhow, to give you an understanding of the time frame that I worked through:The Four Seasons single was popular in March '63Jimmy Soul - MayEssex - JulyMLK speech - AugKennedy Assasination - NovDusty Springfield - late Dec '63 - Jan '64* = denotes that song was a chart topping single** = the song came off a top selling album
PS. I only wish I had a bigger disk to include everything I wanted to, ie Elvis, Eydie Gorme, Joan Baez. I may make another part to this, but seeing as it took me two weeks to work on this mix alone, it'll be a good while before I get through another one.

I was recently thinking about researching music from the year I was born. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting for me.

Very creative and unique. It's too bad that oldies radio stations can't be as swell as your mix. Great concept and design esp. Dusty.
