Comment:
one of my favorite song writers of all time elliott smith has died today. this fucking sucks.Feedback:
*sigh* indeed it does. i have his music on repeat this morning.
ohmigod...
thanks for making this. i found out last night and can't do anything constructive to make myself feel better.
he was so wonderful.
he was so wonderful.
I've made several Elliott Smith mixes lately. He was my favorite musician. I'm heartsick.
I still can't believe that. r.i.p. to him, nice mix.
Unbelievably sad. Either/Or pulled me in the first time I heard it. RIP.
it fucking sucks indeed. i can't believe it... RIP. great mix
I just can't believe it's true... I can't bring myself to make a mix for him. Thanks for saying what I couldn't.
it's been a terrible year for music in general.
elliot smith was a great musician, but did not have a handle on life. alcoholism, drug addiction, and suicide. it was only a matter of time.
it's really frustrating to hear people say "it was only a matter of time" or "i'm not surprised". he was a human fucking being. have a heart.
Oh my God...that really sucks. I liked what I'd heard of his stuff.
great tribute and a great loss
It's kind of odd -- while I think he had a remarkable voice, and I found XO to be one of my favorite albums of the past decade, he wasn't someone I played all the time -- yet I was completely shaken up yesterday. Maybe because his age was close to mine, maybe because his songs sounded like he really put himself into them, but he just seemed far less remote than many artists. Not that I was any less broken up about Joey Ramone or Joe Strummer last year, but that was more out of an appreciation for their lives' work than out of a feeling of personal closeness.
i have to agree with popkulcher for saying exactly how i have felt since i found out. i have always appreciated elliott's music, and although i had never thought of him as one of my absolute favorites, or listened to him constantly, i have been surprisingly, remarkably upset over his death. i've been doing nothing but searching for every little thing i can find out about elliott these past two days, maybe trying to find out why i feel this way. he definitely connected a feeling of personal closeness to each listener through his music, and maybe i never realized the impact it had on me until now, which is quite unfortunate. however, to cut it off, thanks for the tribute, and may elliott finally find peace.
elliott was my introduction to indie music, and for that reason i'll miss him terribly. the guitar and the voice and the talent -- anyway, this is a great tribute to one of my favorite artists. thanks.
