1 . the go-betweens; magic in here - took me quite a while to come up with this. ||
2 . evan dando & sabrina brooke; summer wine - duet and a cover version (original lee hazzlewood) ||
3 . stereo total; ushilo sugat ga kilei - it's japanese as far as i know, the band is german/french. to pick a french title would have been waaaay too easy ;) ||
4 . dj shadow; organ donor - it's starts out with a few words, but the rest is organ inferno with some cool drumming. ||
5 . le tigre; deceptacon - this just kicks ass. ||
6 . guided by voices; motor away - one of the first songs i knew by gbv and still one of my faves. ||
7 . blondie; look good in blue - haha, shawna you had to know why i picked this 'blue' - category! ||
8 . a camp; i can't buy you - i've seen the video, wanted to buy the cd the same day, but it was not yet available, argh. damn marketing strategies. this is nina persson btw, singer of the cardigans. ||
9. nana mouskouri; white rose of athens - yes, well, my parents are not really into popular music of any kind that i could appreciate as well. now this is a pathetic 'schlager' as we call it in germany and hey i like it! ||
10. john frusciante; going inside - i never listened much to the whole album, but this first song rules. ||
11. barbara manning; isn't lonely lovely - she has a unique way to write songs i think. live she kicks ass. ||
12. magnapop; suck it up - this is a one of my favourite hidden tracks, one that surprises you when it comes crawling out of the speakers, when you already had forgotten you were listening to the cd. ||
13. built to spill; twin falls - not a story in the folk story telling way, but it fits the category still; in my opinion :P ||
14. julie doiron with kids; the sweetest eyes - that's just too fuckin sweet to not be my choice for this category! ||
15. trio; da da da - it's german ok, but anyone who doesn't know german can guess how stupid the lyrics are as well; universal stupidity hehe ||
16. the amps; empty glasses - okay beer is not mentioned in this song, but what else could she be singing about?! honestly. plus i made up the instructions, i can cheat on my own rules. every decent dictator does that. ||
17. the doors; alabama song (whiskey bar) - i listened to that when i was sort of a hippie back in my teenage days heheh (i'm not THAT old) ||
18. deus; suds & soda - here soda is mentioned, that's all that counts. ||
19. spookey ruben; wendy mcdonald - this guy is canadian i think, do you know him? and as close to the instructions as you can get :) ||
20. erykah badu; bag lady - total random.
