Comment:

This mix is very different from the ones I usually make since it was totally inspired by the songs I heard on the radio while on a trip through Canada, including Quebec, Moncton, New Brunswick; Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Portland, Maine USA. I started keeping track of songs in my journal when we got to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

"Sweet Caroline" - We heard this while driving on I-81 in New York State on the first day of traveling. My grandmother and I started singing along and I realized that this trip was going to be full of those kinds of moments.

"No Letting Go" - I heard this on the Canadian Hot 20 while we were staying in North River, Nova Scotia. The hand claps/rhythm intrigued me.

"Mr. Bartender" - Just before we left my parent's house, the video for this song came on VH-1. Then we started hearing it more in the Cape Breton area.

"Heaven" - When you're in Canada you're almost guaranteed to hear every popular Bryan Adam song that's ever existed. I wanted to put "Can't Stop This Thing We've Started" on here, but I couldn't find a good copy to download.

"Black Black Heart" - I loved this song when it first came out. I heard this while waiting for our food to arrive at the Bluenose II diner in Halifax.

"Suite Judy Blue Eyes" - We were on our way to St. John, NB I believe when this song came on. My grandmother thought it was some gospel tune until my parents and I started singing along with it.

"Peaches" - I hadn't heard this in so long! And my mom liked this song when it came out, so both of us sang it as we drove over the hills of Nova Scotia just before New Brunswick.

"Use Your Love" - This came on the radio one rainy night while we drove along the coastline of Maine near Portland looking for a boardwalk area my mom remembered from her youth.

"Are You Happy Now"/"Why Can't I" - Heard both on the drive from Portland back to Rochester, NY. I felt out of the loop since I didn't realize both artists were coming out with new albums.

"Don't Falter" - A song I planned to put on a mix cd for my friend's wedding and a song that has that great summer feel.

Hey, great mix, and great idea for a mix. It's always great to hear an obscure nostalgic song while driving on a rainy night... it always seems to happen, like the DJ is having pity on ya. Lots of good songs here.
