Comment:
I'm finally getting all of my priorities and responsibilities in order, after years of putting everything off and refusing to officially grow up. Well, blessed with a first, new, and most wonderful love, those days of procrastination, stagnation, and aimlessness must now end. So to commemorate, I made this mix as the soundtrack to the beginning of my new life, intending it to be kind of hope-filled and refreshing and understated yet inspirational in a way. However, as is the situation with most mixes I put together, it ended up primarily being a compilation of a) new songs I like (311, Michelle Branch, Alien Ant Farm, Tomoyasu Hatei, No Doubt), b) older songs I've newly discovered (Biz Markie, The Muffs, The Huntingtons, RHCP), c) songs I've long known about but just recently downloaded and rediscovered (Matthew Sweet, Natalie Cole, Randy, Ramones, Beach Boys, Gob). In fact, there are only a handful of tracks chosen specifically to complement the concept of this mix - Green Day, LTJ, The Verve, the Scottish National Anthem (hard to explain), and that Offenbach-esque Hans Zimmer instrumental from "True Romance", which I feel is a perfect closer. Nonetheless, the newness of all the other songs - in whatever capacity they may qualify - renders them at least partially appropriate to my ambition here. A bunch of new music to lead us into Chapter 2 in the legend of Mike :)Feedback:
Nice! I love that Beach Boys song. Always good to start a mix w/ that LTJ song too.
