Comment:

Felt like gettin' some twang on, but without relying on the usual suspects from the Gram Parsons/Uncle Tupelo schools of alt.country (for the most part). I opted for variety over authenticity, just some good old rock 'n' roll with a bit of finger-picking or slide guitar.

Great, great stuff. I love country music as played by rock n roll bands. It's not as "authentic" as the original stuff, but it's so much more reverent and sincere than popular country of the past 20+ years. That Long Ryders song is an all-time fave rave.

Yeah, this is one of the better "country" mixes I've seen on the site. Nice job.

I like this one Marc. Great starter song. Rank and File would fit here. Got any?

This is a great concept and great material. Some other artists who would fit here: New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Old 97s.

Yes, but which country? Superb concept. No Osmonds? You tease!

Alas, I have neither Rank & File nor the Osmonds. I had the latter's Crazy Horses when I was 5 -- the first album I ever bought -- but turned it into a frisbee upon puberty. I've regretted it ever since.

Yes, this a first rate mix , with or without Donny & Marie. I see the "Crazy Horses" album frequently at the swap meet, so I can't imagine it would be difficult to find on the streets of San Francisco. Wham-O makes a much better frisbee.

I endorse almost word for word what Sean says about "Country". This is a smashing mix, filled with many tunes I really love. You are showing how diverse a mixmaster you are, Marc.

First class. Particularly, Range Life and Heart of Gold. I highly recommend a new 2xCD complitation by Rough Trade Shops called Country 1, for all your c&w needs.
