Comment:

many have made comments on The Clash's 1980 release, Sandinista!, regarding the fact that amongst the 3 albums it encompassed, that one good album lied within. this is my first attempt at unhiding that album. i also endeavor to assemble a reggae album culled from the various Sandinista! tracks as well.

"Unhiding"? Sorry, I just had to bring that up. I don't know enough about the Clash to say anything else. Out.

I wouldnt say Sandinista is their best album, but one of the most genius with message, etc...

Hmmmm. I think that Sandinista would actually make a great double album, as good as London Calling.

Aargh. First off, I agree with the 3 previous posts. But I am a little confused by your proposal. If you're compiling all the "good" (and I use that word lightly) punk on this disc and compiling all the "good" reggae on another, then why not just listen to Sandinista? Is it really that hard to sit through? Sorry for bringing down the hammer, but I'm sick of people thinking they can improve on another person's album simply by reordering the tracks. That takes a lot of stupidity or a lot of nerve if you ask me. Besides, Strummer hasn't even been in the ground for a full year yet. Have a little respect for the guy. Sandinista isn't some item you buy at his estate sale to reupholster your couch with, it's part of his body of work and I think people should try to appreciate it as it stands.

i think you have completely misconstrued what ive tried to do here hannigan. my point is that there is a lot of filler and lesser-quality stuff on sandinista and by doing this i'm trying to present a hypothetical, stripped-down version of the album. this has nothing to do with discrediting the clash's artistic merit or to disrespect Joe Strummer in any way. so backoff, you putz

Disrespect seems inherent in the act. Reinforced by what you just posted. Words like "filler" and "lesser-quality" don't sound too respectful to me. Ahh anyway, I rarely rant on this site, I guess I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. I get pretty touchy regarding The Clash. Altho I would've been a tad more open minded in the picks ;) Welcome to AOTM.

I'm with Sean, although in its released form it's my second-favorite Clash album (after the first one).

I think I'd go for a double album, too. The songs that I'd cut have changed over time, though.
