Comment:

I tried to incorporate songs with images that Chagall incorporated into his paintings. I wanted to begin with Traditional Kleizmer music (something which Chagall would have heard in his Native Russia) and move into the bright sunlight of Paris where he began his wonderful series of paintings depicting both himself and his wife Bella that are both playful and mystic. Then forward into his religous painting - surprisingly many of them depict Crucifixions. I say surprising because Chagall is a Jew and viewed from that perspective they seem shocking. Well, they do to me. I don't know when I first saw a Chagall but I do remember seeing the big Chagall exhibition at The Royal Academy in 1985 and being spellbound. Since then he has had coloured everything I have done creatively.

High concept mix and some heady picks. Suddenly my mixes seem so damn trivial. If I tried this it would have ended up a bunch of songs inspired by "Far Side" cartoons. And nice Felt pick
