[actually waited up till 5 am the other night/day to catch the music from todd haynes' "velvet goldmine." i haven't seen "far from heaven," but everything else by this guy that i've seen is pretty much unwatchable -- even when viewed through an "arty" prism. still, the music is swell, and this mix starts w/songs that didn't make the very good soundtrack album. also, i'm still in a bit of a french phase and must soon get to work on american april march's single-artist mix. likewise, starflyer 59 -- a band i'd never heard of a couple weeks ago but has songs up the wazoo and become much less navel-gazing w/time.]
