Comment:
Another archival tape, this one about two years old. This was made shortly after I started getting into what is now euphemistically and rather disingenuously called "folk." Folk is that bullcrap like Greg Brown and Ellis Paul. Most of what we're calling folk now is really country-rock and country and rock, but if we call it those things we can't play it on NPR, so...Anyway, I usually segregate my love of Jerry Garcia and the Dead onto mixes that I don't post here. But if you can't recognize that Garcia was one of this country's preeminent fingerpickers and guitar players and that his work with Grisman and Tony Rice is just amazing, well, I feel sorry for you...
Feedback:
This is music I grew up on- it's nice to see that someone else has a love for Emmylou Harris, I have a lot of good memories of sitting around the christmas tree listening to her Christmas album with my mother, playing Scrabble. I'd say Garcia is in the top 5 of the best guitarists in the last century, and that's saying alot.
Top Tunes from grumpy old Neil.
