Comment:

notes: "the extraneous noises heard on 'heat c/w moment' are the amplified sound of my breath and feet while i was playing. the middle part of 'no birds' was played on two guitars simultaneously.... the tapes used in [tracks 6,7, and 16] were recorded in new york city at street fairs, demonstrations, and, along with the bagpipes, in washington square park."

just a quick mix of the fred frith "guitar solos", "speechless" and "step across the border" reissues, two of which i picked up from the used bins at kim's (still sealed!). the third album was picked up during my first trip to ottawa with my lovely and amazing girlfriend, a trip which will forever be remembered as the time that she got sick from eating a candy cane she found IN AN ABANDONED BUILDING. luckily, she survived and we are all the more in love with each other for having gone through the ordeal together....

okay, first of all, that building was not abandoned, it was being renovated. and secondly, we have NO CONCLUSIVE PROOF that my illness was caused by the candy cane (which was cherry, and therefore impossible to resist). that's just, like, your opinion, man.

nice mix, though; i'd like to hear it. found noise is wonderful.

we all know that it was, in fact, an abandoned nuclear waste site. we all know this to be true. we both saw the toxic waste dripping from the ceiling. i think we can therefore safely conclude that it was the radioactive candy cane that was the source of your near-fatal illness. thank god you're okay, though.i can only thank god for that. and for the fred frith albums. god, you're awesome dood.

oh blah blah blah. i don't want to turn this page into a back-and-forth smackdown, but let me just say that if you were so concerned about the poisonous candy cane, maybe you could have piped up when you saw me eating it. you can't say "i told you so" after the fact if you didn't actually attempt to tell me before the fact. i'm just sayin'.

you really did score at kim's, though. god loves you when you're at kim's, apparently.

you're right about that, although i think "was that the candy cane you found in that burnt out meth lab? i can't believe you ate that!" was a perfectly acceptable way of showing concern for your wellbeing. and you'll notice that i still kissed you (without flinching! er, much) right after you finished eating it anyway. because if you're going to end up with ebola, i might as well be ebolized as well. because that's how much you mean to me.
i've also decided that finding those albums at kim's is verifiable proof that god MOST LIKELY EXISTS and is quite possibly trying to tell me something. i'm willing to go on record, here and now, and say that i am willing to believe in god IF he will do me the favor of placing one copy of that viktor vaughn album in the used bin sometime between today and tueday night. if he's willing to help me out like that, i'll totally believe in him. i think that's a pretty fair deal.

I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW. RIGHT NOW. I only own "Guitar Solos" (which I worship) and Henry Cow's "Unrest" and am looking for guidance from an oracle like yourself (btw, I think that those two things are amazing). Please trade with me ASAP. I'm sending you a short list.

Umm, was the candy unwrapped?! Anyway, I love Kim's almost as much as I love Frith. Hence my affection for this capital mix.Hmm, I've used the "capital mix" thing before...I repeat myself when under stress, I repeat myself when under stress...

Well, I'm not very familiar with Fred Frith at all, but just wanted to give ya a shout-out. Thanks for the props on "pay for everything". Glad you're enjoying it. We've gotta cook up another trade sometime here soon.
