Comment:
First of all, if you don't know who Gil Scott- Heron is, He is an amazing Jazz/R&B/Soul/Rapper and singer from the 70's-90's who is also a an super writer (who has several novels, and an poetry antho) he is also credited with with being one of the first rappers . He is and was, very political. Esp in the Civil Rights Movement of the 70's. ABOUT THE MIX...I started out wanting to make a mix about one of his songs songs called the OTHER SIDE pts1, 2, & 3 on the Spirts album. This is a very moving and powerful song. I think it has to do with addiction. As I was working on it I found out that if I were to put that song (other side) on this mix I would lose the flow....so I dropped it but I think without the song it could be seen as ether a Collection of Alt-Contry songs or as a Tribute. I like the way it turned out. Somthing intresting to note is that this great Soul Singer (in my opinion the best of a generation) is being payed tributed by Alt-Country in this mix. mmm....thats odd...Last Note. If you like Marvn Gaye, Bob Marley, Ben Harper or Michael Freinti (Spearhead) you would most likly love Gil Scott-Herons, album I would suggest. First Minute of a New Day you can find it in the Jazz section.
