Comment:
Just under 80 minutes by one of my favorite female rockers of all-time, who happens to finally be getting some notoriety thanks to her White Stripes affiliation. I still don't own Up the Empire (her "official" live record) or Laugh It All Up (her long out-of-print covers album), nor do I own her collaborative albums with Dan Melchior or Billy Childish, so there's nothing from those here. Even without those albums, however, a wealth of tracks had to be cut, including "Anyotherway", "Expert", "Til I Get", "Box Elder", "Lonesome Town", "Now", "Tell Me Now So I Know", "Grandstand", and "Waiting Room."Feedback:
She is amazing!!! Killer song writer. This one goes on my pile ... pleeeeaze!
Don't know of her at all. My curiosity is piqued
I like what I've heard, which has, admittedly, not been enough. I think I'll be needing this next time.
One of my fave fems too! Good choices.
I only know her most recent album...some of which I love and some I think mediocre..but I do know I want to explore her earlier stuff!
This is nice. I've been menaing to make a 'best of Holly Golightly' for a while now. Thanks for the reminder and for listing songs I might have otherwise forgotten.
thanks for making a mix that will make me seek out an artist I don't know. That's what it's all about. :)
awesome awesome awesome. i'm only familiar with a narrow sliver of her stuff, but i really like what little i know. "run cold" is a personal fave. we'll have to do this one up at some point.
Really nice. Yet another mix you'll have to include when we trade mixes again in 2006. Has anyone here ever done a single artist mix by Thee Heatcoatees?
i'm with stripey357
No Headcoatees? I'm just now discovering her solo stuff - for years she's just been a Billy Childish puppet to me. Which I will now admit was totally wrong. Great mix.
Great comp, though some Headcoatees would be a nice addition as well, too, also....
There was so much great solo material that Headcoatees stuff was completely unnecessary, although if someone (*clears throat while looking pointedly at Lally*) would like to begin my Headcoatees collection, I'd be more than happy to assemble a comp for them, as well. ;-)
Other than the few Headcoatees songs I have on my computer and her cover of Pavement's "Box Elder", I've heard nothing from Ms. Golightly. I shall investigate further as I really like thee Headcoatees and the Pavement cover quite a bit.
This is really intrigueing. Someone I've been interested in but heard very little by.
Same as Gerry! Must look into this further.
This looks great Rob. Quite a few things I'm missing. We'll need to deal for some of this on '06.
