Comment:
I was born and raised in Chicago. I love that city. This is my tribute to it. Yes, Sweet Home Chicago is on this mix 3 times, however, this was used as a way to break the mix up into sections and to begin and end it in a similar way. Plus, all three of these versions are very, very different. Some of these are songs you'd expect to see on a Chicago tribute CD, the others may not be as expected. The Ides of March song, even though it has LA in the title is actually about coming back to the west side of Chicago. The Rhett Miller song kicks ass and Take Me Back to Chicago will definetly make you feel good if you grew up there. I had thought about adding "Downtown by Petula Clark and "Summer in the City," cause both of those remind me of Chicago, but niether song mentions it, so instead I chose to stick to songs that mention the second city. Thanks to all the art of the mixers out there who gave me ideas from their various mixes. Enjoy.Feedback:
Hey!! Love the mix! I made a "tribute to chicago" mix, too with ALOT of the same songs (Paul Butterfield, Kill Hannah, Paper Lace, sinata, etc) but there is plenty of cool stuff here I've never heard and want to, like "Lake Shore Drive" and "the El" :)
Excellent!
