Comment:
This mix takes you through a relationship, from the perspective of everyone. The boy in love with the girl, the girl in love with the boy, and the boy who breaks them up. Tracks 1-6 are mainly about the "lovey" phase of a relationship. Track 7 is the introduction to the girl's inability to completely open up to the boy. Track 8 is the introduction to the "other guy." Track 9 is the girl's guilt surfacing. Track 10 is the boy breaking up with the girl. Tracks 11- 12 are the boy regretting his decision to break up with her and his feelings of loneliness as he realizes how much he misses her. Track 13 is the boy "sees" the girl everywhere and wants her back after a little bit of time has passed. Track 14 is when the girl realizes that she can't be with boy because she would do the same things so she just lets him go, even though she still loves him. Tracks 15 - 16 are the boys rage coming out. He says things he doesn't mean to cover the fact that he still loves her. Track 17 is when the girl is hurt by the boy's actions and words, so she says that the relationship was a mistake and she airs their "dirty laundry". Track 18 is the boy looking back on the relationship. He realizes that the love/hate relationship has caused them to suffer in more ways than one. They cannot even salvage a friendship. Track 19 is the boy trying to create a base for a friendship or something more with the girl. He knows that she still has his heart. They both look back on what went wrong in their relationship and resolve what happened.Feedback:
The Ataris pop-punk cover of Boys of Summer has been getting so much play lately... it's a shame because The Adjustments (the pop-punk reincarnation of the ska-punk Janitors Against Apartheid) recorded a version about two years before that was similar although slightly better and no one noticed. It might've been because they called it "Boise Summer." Why? My guess is to be funny or avoid copyright infringement.
Otherwise, nice mix. Just use the Adjustments next time as a favor to me.

I used to listen to a remix of DJ Sammy's "Boys of SUmmer" and it never used to fit into some of the cds I would make. When The Ataris came back with the song I couldn't wait to put it into some mixes. I am interested in "Boise Summer." I haven't heard of The Adjustments, but I would like to give them a listen. If you know where I can get my hands on a copy of the song, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Emo makes my teeth grind. The Ataris, Something Corporate, the All-American Rejects... I don't care if I sound like Abe Simpson when I say it all sounds the same. Having said that, 311 + Incubus are absolutely stellar. Great track picks for both. + Fiona Apple is beautiful- her singing, I mean. + at the very least remember this: I've never been ambitious enough to tell a story the way you did here, so even if I do have some criticisms, I really should not be so quick to open my damn mouth. Good work, + thanx for the feedback. Out.
I like this a lot. I really like the Something Corporate choices, and the Starting Line (Best of Me). And the 311. And the Incubus. And the Jet. That Boys of Summer cover doesn't hold a candle to Don Henley's version, and I'm not real into it. In this mix, you've described one of my relationships, I think. It's really well put together with some pretty cool songs too. Nice job.
Awesome mix! :)
