Comment:
While helping my son write a paper on his favorite hero I recalled my own choices when faced with the same topic as a child. I had the more difficult task of choosing a male & female hero (some sorta social experiment, I'm sure). The male hero was easy as I was a huge fan of Muhammad Ali (pretty certain that Evel Knievel was in the running too). After struggling a bit, I decided to take license with & fabricate some tales about my grandmother (gotta admit now that she actually did not fight nazis during WWII). Thought it was a funny enough concept for a mix cover, but none of that has anything to do with this "for the hell of it" gathering of recent spins & finds. Thanks to Valis for the Persian Rugs turn on.
Feedback:
Ha! The cover's funny and the mix is awesome. 17-20 is flat-out out of this world, but the rest is pretty great too.
great cover, great rock mix but who was your sons hero ?
love the sool, alice c. and gbv picks.
great mix and a great idea, Jim. Especially like the Yardbirds, Stones and NRBQ pix.
Cool is the word!
Very, very cool mix, good sir. That stretch from 20-23 is also extremely awesome.
Wonderful mix. Everythng is great.
Damn! With a couple of exceptions this looks like a mix I'd make....(I, too, remember the "Hero" assignment.., I was chastised by the teacher-in front of the entire class-for "only reading books on baseball." Bitch. That my hero was a black man was something my grandfather just couldn't abide. And yet, because of "my hero", I was able to get past the episode without too much damage...oh, also: Hail the Persian Rugs!
Who put the crack in the Liberty Bell? ALI!!!
Very cool.
