Excellent!
Was Marie Provost a real silent film star ? Excellent mixes. Check out my similarly themed mix. Looks like we share only one track.
It is a sad commentary that fame sometimes brings cruelty decades after a death. The death was that of Canadian-born silent movie star Marie Prevost in 1937. The cruelty is how she is remembered. Some forty years after Marie died, singer-songwriter Nick Lowe penned a tune titled Marie Prevost which includes the lines: She was a winner...Who became the doggie's dinner. Unfortunately that is what happened, but there are some facts that were left out of the song.
that comment taken from http://www.northernstars.ca/actorspqr/prevostbio.html
HI nov - I've never heard the Clash song, but I'm guessing that it refers to the fact that in Raintree County the film shows pretty much only right profiles of Clift since he had been in an (auto?) accident, and his left side was somehow messed up. You have some excellent looking mixes. we should do a trade sometime.
Thanks for the mary Provost lesson! That's my fave Nick Lowe song and after unsuccessfully finding anything about her (in the pre internet days) I assumed it was at least a partly fictional tale. And also, nice mix as always!
Cruella, you MUST tell me about Marie Prevost becoming the doggie's dinner. This is my kind of story!!Another sweet looking mix here! I can't believe I'm seeing the Chickasaw F-ing Mud Puppies!!!!
And this one? Well, other than one track that shall go unnamed, I think this one is absolutely the ginchiest!!! And remind me to tell you about that opening track....
