1 of a 2 volume set. This is a collection of my more favorite songs from the earlier years of Yo La Tengo (from Fakebook (1990) to Genius + Love (1996)). I mostly kept the more "song" songs as I think the noiser songs don't work well out of context. As I mostly only have the albums -- so I am sure I am missing some incredible singles. Comments/suggestions welcome.

Nice mix of what I'm proud to call THE best band of the 1990's, bar none. Seriously. You really ought to treat yourself to the President Yo La Tengo/New Wave Hot Dogs cd. The latter half (their second album) was pretty weak (aside from "A Shy Dog," one of their best tracks), but the President EP is dynamite, with the original droning "Barnaby," slacker anthem "Drug Test," and pretty "Alyda." May I Sing With Me is another one you need, if only for the perfect single "Upside-Down."
