Virtual mood enhancers come courtesy of ’80s Video Hits 2 as artists use the message of the medium to get their musical points across. Sheila E showed off her mad percussion skills on the steamy video for “The Glamorous Life,” but when it comes to showstopper oomph, her lingerie-lace costumes didn’t hurt. The Romantics went the simple route, relying on trad-rock styling and quick-cut edits to highlight the retro energy of “What I Like About You.” Crowded House rolled out experimental animation to enhance the bittersweet beauty of “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” and Berlin conjured a new-wave noir thriller for the synth-pop smash “The Metro.”
