Comment:
This compilation was inspired by Forty Licks which my mother-in-law bought me for Christmas. Whilst by no means am I saying that's a bad album, cos of course it's not; the problem for me is that I'm pretty tired of all the old classic Stones tracks. So I thought I'd put together an alternative 40 Licks for ya. I'm not wanting to spawn an argument over what's included and what's not that's immaterial cos it's all in the ears of the beholder. Unfortunately this is only on cassette because all my Stones collection is on vinyl. This mix takes us up to 'Exile On Mainstreet,'which is probably my fav. Stones album though 'Let It Bleed' runs a close 2nd. These days I don't really listen to the Stones but compiling this mix brings it home to me why I was CRAZY about them back in the days when!Feedback:
Ooh man. My Lapping Tongue is just dripping at the looks of this. I can't believe I call myself a Stones fan (nut, in fact) -- I don't even have half of these songs -- collection very spotty and killer cassette of early singles MIA...if you're going to be dispensing this alternative medicine, put me first in line, please!
Ooh, yeah. Good old Rolling Stones..Factory Girl is one of my faves. I loved their first albums, almost blue-grass-like. Great job, French-C.
Interesting idea, and well executed. They had so many quality singles that a lot of the the great album tracks get ignored. These do a nice job of rectifying that.
That first track kicks ass. Also dig 'Rip this Joint' on CD2. All good
Outstanding set of Stones tracks on both volumes..., burn 'em to discs.
