Comment:

**DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for the track selection nor running order of this mix and need to give credit where credit is due. These days I have been reading "Songbook" by Nick Hornby (the author of "High Fidelity"). It's a collection of essays he has written on various songs...his thoughts on their meanings, their place in history, his personal memories about them, etc, etc. I highly reccomend reading it to everybody who posts on this site. Each of the tracks listed here is one he dedicates an essay to, when I have more time I might even make a mix of the other songs he makes mention of in said essays. When I read the table of contents for this book I was immediately impressed by the broad range of styles included (Patti Smith AND Nelly Furtado?? Interesting.), and have learned a lot by reading it. It seemed only natural to listen to the songs being discussed so I went about acquiring them...legally and *ahem* otherwise. Thanks for listening, and Cheers! -AF.

Do you have the first edition of the book that came with a CD? I have disc 1 and made part 2 with the songs they forgot on disc 1 on my own. I thought that was a cool promotion I thought. Great book.

A cornucopia of great trax. Every time I hear Samba Pa Ti it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Nick Hornby rocks. "Fever Pitch" is brilliant, though I'm not much of a footbal- uh, soccer fan, so I can't quite appreciate it as much as them there Euro-folk. "High Fidelity" is 1 of my favourite books ever. A fine homage, AF; kudos. Out.

I'm suprised I never caught this one! Let me just say, I had to teach myself how to read due to my crappy school system. So, I've always been embarced to read, instead I turned to music & movies. But about 2 years ago, I went into a book shop because they were going out of business, and for several strange reasons came out with 'About a Boy' by Nick Hornby and I loved it! It's the best book I've ever read (out of all 5 of them *shrug*), I plan on reading all his books and this is just an extra reminder to do so! What a selection of songs!

This mix has left me curious to go back to the book, as there's 30 tracks listed here but the book I have is titled 31 Songs, so were there different US and European additions?
It's a mix I wanted to make a start on myself.
