maybe some of you are familiar with stylus' "ask a girl" column. there was a valentine's day mixtape contest a few weeks ago and this tape placed 5th. (read it.)

the point of this was to tell a story about a relationship. it begins with a song about gazing at someone from afar. the next is about asking the person out and the awkward "did that go all right?" stages of a relationship. then there are a few songs about lust, before retreating into insecurities about your partner and then becoming mad about them.

side two begins with the aptly-titled "comeback" by josh rouse, which is actually about being on tour in norway during the winter and pining to see the sun, but it also appeals to a lost love. then i threw on some songs about reconciling and gaining trust again. the story ends with him asking her to marry him on "question" and then sealing the deal with one of the most intense love songs i know of, which is "into my arms."
