Comment:

Disc 3 of 3. Despite (rightfully) garnering some (long overdue) critical praise for the fantastic Sunflower and very good Surf's Up albums, the Beach Boys spent the '70s at something resembling their critical and commercial nadir (with the exceptions of the Mike Love-supported oldies collections, Endless Summer and Spirit of America, both of which were huge sellers). Completely unfair, says I, who finds this material to be nearly as compelling as the bulk of the first two discs in this series. Last tracks cut from the series: "You Need a Mess of Help to Stand on Your Own," "I'll Bet He's Nice," "All Summer Long," "Keep an Eye on Summer," "Wendy," "Help Me, Rhonda [single version]," "I'm Bugged at My Ol' Man," "The Trader," "Disney Girls (1957)," "Girls on the Beach" and "Fun, Fun, Fun."

Interesting choice of "She's Goin' Bald" over its predecessor "He Gives Speeches."

Rob - are you reposting these since old ones are falling off the list? I'm not up on the term limits the site imposes on mixes. hope all is well. also, I'm sure you know about the recording of SMile by Brian and the WOndermints live in London. I'm very much looking forward to that tour on the Eastern Seaboard.
