Comment:
The latest installment of my dormant "soul man" series, done by request for my friend Mark. As I do not have a comprehensive Curtis collection (I'm missing a couple of those great early 70's albums that are now out of print), there are probably a few tunes that I missed. Try as I might, however, I could not bring myself to include "Keep on Pushing", "Amen" and "We're a Winner"--although the latter song almost made the cut, the first two don't really "do it" for me, despite their obvious importance to the 60's.Feedback:
if there's any Curtis stuff you need I probably have it, he's one of the greatest in my opinion
Curtis is awesome, spread the word.
I love Curtis!! Mayfield & Burns!! I read somewhere (methinks it was Rolling Stone Encylopedia of Rock) that The Impressions released the first soul single...BTW is Move On Up the single edit or full cut? Great Mix!
All cuts with single edits are the full cuts.
Man, I do love Curtis (Mayfield that is, thank you Dom ;-). Excellent picks Rob.
what curtis said. great job, rob!
really great stuff, Rob. Hope you recognize me with my new name! I had no hand in this and it's all very strange, but you know what they say.........a mixmaker by any other name! :-)
Very cool.
This is just a little rest stop on my search for your Steely Dan mixes, which I thought I saw once... but maybe it was just a dream. The title of this one caught my eye, so I had to pull over. I used to collect versions of People Get Ready like it was going out of style... which is impossible of course :) Alright, time to get back on the road...
