Comment:

At long last, due to the demands of one popular mixer (I guess that's popular demand, right??) who shall remain nameless (pssst, it's valis), this is the long-awaited CD re-mix of an old mix tape posted in my early days at AOTM. The great thing about doing over old mixes is that you get to eliminate songs that just didn't age as well as the others -- or didn't seem to fit so well after repeated listenings over the years. And you get to add songs that weren't around when you first put the mix together, or songs that you didn't have or weren't aware of the first time around. While a re-mix is also easy to overdo -- and there are a bunch of new songs here -- I think the final product retains its original structure and feel, and its ambiguity as well. Some of the new songs include the title cut from Terry Allen's "Salivation" album, an almost sort-of loose concept album ... and highly recommended by the way, Slim Cessna's ode to Satan (recalling Mojo Nixon's "Are You Drinking with Me Jesus"), Old Crow's wonderful "Gospel Plow" which is right out of another era, and the song by my favorite Lizards, which I had already used in an Xmas mix but it fit so well here too. The centerpiece remains the wonderful Firesign bit from "Don't Crush that Dwarf." "Gawdawmighty I'm hungry!!"

AWESOME. Very astute Dylan picks --- you went for the more low-key Christian stuff rather than the bombastic. All around superb picks for a category loaded with candidates. I agree with you about re-doing old mixes, too; that's fun every once in a while.

neat stuff, Steve. Love that wacky cover. Agree with Ion about the Dylan pix too, and I love the Byrds song.

Ha! I humbly bow, westward...you're a "daisy if ya' do"...proof relentless pressure, applied over time, may just work. Thanks you (much!) Master Onn. All hail the St. Louis Aquarium Choir!

Well, it's obvious you're not a "Bozo On This bus!" Great to see the Firesign T.....they did lots of shows on live radio in SF in the late 60s early 70s. Lots of fun! Timely feature too, eh???
