this mix didn't have a theme until i gave it a name. it took me a while to think of one too. this mix is part of an unfinished and unsent present to a friend in Japan which is coming along very slowly because of the workload dumped on me for year 12. what joy. anyway, i named it this afternoon, and realised that it's all about the positives people focus on when faced with the sad parts of life. some songs involve sad subjects - war and refugees in "i will," your desire to live or lack thereof in "waltz #2" (sadder still after the death of Elliott Smith), break ups in the Sinead O'Connor song. but there are other songs, even pure fantasy which the Eels and Flaming Lips specialise in, which really bring a smile to your face. and that's important.
