Comment:

Guilty Pleasures

Mostly an exercise in indulging in old sweets, with a hard drive clean-up blended in. In addition to the old radio nuggets, a couple of real classics are here. I don't think anyone would say that the cuts by the Classics IV, the Pacemakers, or Gordon Lightfoot are guilty pleasures. Norman Connors is (was) a jazz drummer in the mid 70's who made kind of smooth 70ish jazz. Think Chuck Mangione. The song was the best one on the album of the same name that got some turntable time in the apartment. Now I reward myself with some additional space on the hard drive. Enjoy the mix!

You've got some songs here I truly love (and a couple I never need to hear again). A fine mix.

Guilt is good for the soul. I'll readily admit my affection for the Carpenters too. Interesting mix Steve.

I have good memories of a lot of these. Great picks. By the way, dude, why you cleaning your hard drive? Are you about to go in a whole new direction? I'm watching this space ;-)

a lot of good stuff here. I always associate Precious and Few with a girl I dated in HS.

I really like most of this steve. I had an idea to do something like this myself, but you beat me to the punch. I think it's time we traded again, my friend.

There's nothing wrong with Badfinger, particularly that song, so I don't get the "guilty" thing. I definitely like that Carpenters song, too, as well as the Pacemakers track, the Animals, Greg Kihn and the Gordo pick.

I really dig the Badfinger song as well. Nice mix, too.

I love my guilty pleasures and it's always interesting to see other people's. There are some womderful songs here like the Badfinger and Johnny Rivers but others make me cringe like some people would say about my guilty pleasures. Funny thing about that Iron Butterfly song... my wife and I just listened to Ball this weekend during a rearrangement of albums. Probably first time in decades and I said there was a song on there I liked from the time I got the album in 1969 but when Soul Experience came on she just started laughing at me. I said what the hell it was a guilty pleasure.

Hey, good buddy...Just cathing up on some AOTM stuff and stumbled across this slice of time. The melodic (and guitar-ferocious) Ride, Captain, Ride still rocks my boat...and the beautiful Edmund Fitzgerald is never far from the PLAY button...Hoping all is well...
