While we’re pretty sure you’ve heard the names Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, and Poison before, most of our [i]Hair Metal[/i] Deep Cuts list is devoted to long-forgotten heroes of the spandex set. How about Europe, for starters? A couple synth-driven seconds of “The Final Countdown” is all you’re gonna need to remember their finest hour, complete with lyrics inspired by . . . David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” Yep. And the head-scratching/banging surprises don’t stop there. We’ve also got one of David Lee Roth’s first solo smashes (“Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody”), the Poison song that made Bret Michaels a star [i]way[/i] before [i]Rock of Love[/i] (“Nothin’ But a Good Time”), and guitar-guided glimpses of Tesla and Dokken at their party-starting peak.
