Comment:

Not inspired by the movie, which I have not seen.
I do not own Ryan Adams singing Sylvia Plath.
The readings by Plath and Hughes were recorded by The BBC.

I like this a lot -- it has a certain balance, which no one in my town (Northampton, MA) has when discussing this couple. Bravo.

Strange how a lot of male musicians seem to identify with Sylvia. Like you said, Ryan Adams wrote a song for her, as have Paul Westerberg and Peter Laughner. And, of course, the mix is very cool.

THis looks excellent Dom. You've inspired me to incorporate my Maria Callas stuff into a mix. THere's nothing like some good arias and good wine to make the day. How many stars (out of 5) do you give Vespertine?

Fantastic Dom, although I have an admittedly low tolerance for Plath. Especially love the Bj÷rk/Glass pairing and that stretch from Coleman through Harvey.

Yet another amazing idiosyncratic Dom concoction, w/ stuff no one else would have thought of, but it looks right. Have you seen the recent Diane Middlebrook biography 'Her Husband'? It's nominally about Ted Hughes, but you're right, the two can't be separated, you can't have one without the other.

I love the idea of music mixes interspersed with spoken word. Great diversity too...Yann Tiersen to PJ Harvey, who'da thunk it? You must have a great music supplier ;) I shall be attacking you for some of your Hughes/Plath recordings in the near future too! Excellent mix.
