Comment:
The spriritual godfather of Country Rock,Gram Parsons,
appears here
with the Byrds, and also gets songwriting credit on "Christine's Tune."
Ryan Adams
gets 2 turns (once with Whiskeytown), as do those overlapping members
of the Dead and the New Riders.
I tried to mix artists who work this style regularly,
and others who
stepped in for just one song.
Additional suggestions are welcome.
Title is from "Mrs. Potter."
Feedback:
a nice one
mixxer - another really interesting mix - half the artists I have heard, half I have not (I don't get out much). I like the old/new mixxins as well. How big a Phish head are you?
Very nice.
They're all right. This is pretty cool.
Ditto the above!
classy and well done...GP was an amazing talent, too soon gone!
whew, great picks from Whiskeytown, Old 97's, Bright Eyes, and of course, the Byrds.
I wanted to get back to you on this one - I've played it a bunch of times, and love the cuts from unexpected places. You don't think of country from groups like Phish, Led Zep, and Counting Crows, but there they are! Also with the Stones country is not the first thing that pops into my mind. But listening to their Beggar's Banquet and Let It Bleed you hear a ton of it. I was also thankful for the Poco, New Riders, and Flying Burrito Bros, all of which I have had nothing in my collection (until now). And I've finally heard Whiskeytown - good cut. Excellent mix from many vantage points!
The Wad's favorite American Country & Western Band is well-represented here with Torn and Frayed.
