The Honey Cone are the apex of Bubblegum Soul. Surprisingly, they made a lot of great songs in a variety of styles from faux Supremes to dense, metallic funk. Beautifully sung, very funky, even moving at times.

I don't think I've encountered them, either, BUT Hot Wax was a cool (sic) label, and that makes me kinda curious. I might even like to give this a spin some time . . .

This mix looks sweet and sticky! I haven't heard too much from these fine ladies -- I still haven't unsealed the HC record I found at the swap meet -- but I'd love to give this a listen someday.
