Comment:
And now, the Regime is using 9-11 as background for their re-appointment campaign. Disgusting. Howard's right - Bush has to go right now. The sooner the better. He and his cronies are too dangerous to the people of the United States. Yeah, in the wake of 9-11, we're all a little nervous, even three years later - but we need more protection from the White House than we do from any terrorist faction. And that is one fucking scary thought.Just a quick word about the tunes: Many were picked because of their "radio" subject matter, but I didn't just pick out "radio" songs at random. Though not directly one point, the "radio" songs have something to say about shoving shit down listeners' throats.
"Miss America" by David Byrne was chosen not only because it shares a title with Howard's second book, but also for the line, "I miss America" - the ideal America, home of guaranteed, protected freedoms is disappearing little by little every day - you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
"I'm Afraid of Americans" was chosen because this whole McCarthyesque censorship witch hunt scares the crap out of me, but also because Howard has mentioned it in the past as one of his favorite Bowie songs (Bowie performed it live at one of Howard's on-air birthday parties).
"Gimme Some Truth" by John Lennon was chosen because it fits the atmosphere of these times just as well as it did during the Nixon years; also, because Howard has stated his love for Lennon's music many times over the years.
And "Freedom of Choice" by Devo is one of my favorite songs ever. Freedom of choice is what we've got (or at least had), but freedom FROM choice is what we want because we are turning into a lazy, give-it-to-me-now-regardless-of-the-consequences society. We are the Roman Empire in decline.
The title is taken from Howard's father, Ben Stern. I still crack up every time I hear him screaming those words. Also, this is really a double CD mix, not a cassette.
And for those of you missing Howard, check out this fine update page. This dude gives a run-down of the show every day - www.marksfriggin.com. Also, props to www.koam.org for Stern Show updates.
In the midst of all the scariness - some good tunes and some funny, funny bits from Howard and the Gang. Fuck the FCC.

Feedback:
Nice pair of mixes. Nice eloquent comments too ;~)
another instant classic!
Ditto Muzag!
Rather then THEME, this should be filed under BANDWAGON. Who are the 2 faggots with Stern, Seigfried and Roy?
Yeah - I'm a big bandwagon jumper from way back. I jumped on this bandwagon 20 to 25 years ago. As to the faggots w/Stern - I don't see anyone holding a cigarette...
Echoing the comments made by Muzag. - Thought I'd check out Gottfried's contribution to the site, yeh you've guessed it f*** all.
i can see cigarette stains.both dudes flanking Stern smoke JOHNSON brand :)
