Comment:

My girlfriend and I had a spat, and although it was tough, my love for her is still very strong, as is hers for me. So, I thought I'd make her this CD just to smooth out any other wrinkles. All in all, a bunch of songs that talk about love carrying on, and also the mistakes we make. John Lennon opens it up nicely, and "Please Forgive Me" is our song. The last three songs are great together and I hope she likes it.

I really like some of the choices on this, especially John Lennon, Billy Joel, and Van Morrison. But have you listened to the lyrics on "So Damn Lucky"? I don't mean to criticize if you have a personal attachment to this song, but if you want to go with Dave, he has plenty of songs that might fit this mix a bit better, like "Best of What's Around," Let You Down," "Lie In Our Graves," and a handful of songs on Everyday. Of course, it's all a matter of taste...I just happen to have particular taste. But it's your mix, and a good one at that. Nice job.

So Damn Lucky -- I know the lyrics. The title says what I wanted to say, more than the words. The song is confusing -- is it really a car crash that the singer is so damn lucky to survive, or is it metaphorical, meaning their love almost crashed and they are so damn lucky it did not. If it is the latter, that is the feeling I wanted. If not, I can pretend right? As for other Dave songs, I have used him so much on her other mixes, I am having to stretch furhter back into his catalogue.
