Comment:
I spent a lot of time finding the tracks for this mix, and then deciding the right order for them. It is a mix for my friend Robin, who has made me some great mixes in the past also. I think I am most proud of this mix, because I put a lot of time into it. Also, the title, "We Will Get By," which comes from the Grateful Dead song, refers to something Robin and I have talked about before. We worry that one day we'll reach a point in our lives where we stop listening to new music, and stick to our old stuff. This mix sends an optimistic, reassuring message that we'll be fine. Also, the Grateful Dead track is sort of a hidden track, because the Sigur Ros track has about 30 seconds of silence after the song. This creates a really cool effect - when you think the mix is over, the Grateful Dead remind you of the title and end the mix on the right note.Feedback:
gee, i'd love a copy of this... hint, hint.
Is it my imagination, or does that REM song sound like "It's the End Of The World..." version 2.0??? Not like there's anything wrong with musicians rehashing their older material (hell, the Stones have been doing it since '64). I've wondered about what I'll listen to in 15 years as well. My ideal would be to still be listening to the songs of my youth, while enjoying the scary new grooves. i think you might agree that going to concerts of the new stuff could die off. Great choices, a happening mix! Cheers! -Famous-
I really like this!
