Comment:
This mix is based on a movie, and a semi-obscure one at that - Smile, a dark and brilliant 1975 comedy set at a California teen beauty pageant. On the songs -- some actually were in the movie (Smile, California GIrls, Let the Good Times Roll, Delta Dawn), some remind me of characters or subplots, some give me a vague "white bread 70s suburbia" vibe, and some are just songs that I happen to dig right now.
Feedback:
that koop song is so awesome. i need to look up this movie now! i'm so intrigued.
I just saw this movie!! I thought it was great, although I thought it would be funnier than it was. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood. I love this mix. And really good cover design too.
Excellent Matt! A Top Ten Mix of the Week...
Really nice Matt! Never heard of the movie, but it must be worth seeing if it inspired such a cool mix. Lovely work on the cover too. Mama cat would be proud.
...and I love that Birdie song. Great pick!
It's a sunshine day! Never saw the flick, but I looked it up on IMDB, and it looks like a winner. Bruce Dern and Barbara Feldon!
looking really nice, always good to have stuff like this when the sun comes up, and cool to see some swedes on it too (KOOP)
*smiling, great mix.
Lookin' good.
Great movie (from a long-gone era when Michael Ritchie still shot stuff worth watching), great mix.
Great mix. I wish I'd seen this sooner.
