Comment:
quite a few songs that have been covered a copious amount of times, be they on actual cover albums or heard being butchered (or sung fairly decently) by American Idol contestants. If anything that's been covered a lot has been forgotten, let me know, and I'll add it.
Feedback:
Aretha first sung Son Of A Preacher Man and both New York New York and My Way are covers by Frank Sinatra but I'm at a loss to tell you their originators except to say My Way is a translation from The French but otherwise a nice selection!
New York New York was written by Kander and Ebb for the 1977 film by the same name. I think it was sung there by Liza Minelli, but not sure. Frank did his cover version in 1980 and of course he totally owns it now.
i'm just happy about the Etta James.
