Comment:
Unfortunately, the original Harvey Keitel Mix got deleted while I was updating it and as I no longer had the original mix or track listing, I decided to re-do the mix. I think most of the original survives with a few additions and reitractions. Additions include: John Lee Hooker's `Hit The Road', The White Stripes `7 Nation Army' and Captain Beefheart's `Hard Workin Man'. Cut from the mix was `Splendour Splash' by The Jay Boys. I'm sure I'm missing a few tracks from the original but I can't remember what they were.Born 1939, Brighton Beach.
Recommended Films: Mean Streets (1973), Taxi Driver (1976), The Duellists (1977), Blue Collar (1978), Fingers (1978), Bad Timing (1980), Reservoir Dogs (1992), Bad Lieutenant (1992), Thelma and Louise (1991), Pulp Fiction (1992), The Piano (1993), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Copland (1997).
Keitel On Keitel: `Number one, he's not always angry. Number two, he is always in turmoil.'
Notes On Mix
Side 1
track 2: this is the Exile On Coldharbour Lane version of the song which opens The Soprano's TV Series and contains a spoken ode to Charles Mingus and further name-checks Jazz & Blues Greats Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald etc.
track 11: Keitel's character in Taxi Driver is Sport. Jodie Foster played Iris. Taxi Driver was Bernard Herrmann's final score before he died.
Side 2
track 1: Keitel starred with Richard Pryor and Yaphet Kotto in Paul Schraeder's Blue Collar. Jack Nitzsche composed the soundtrack with contributions by Ry Cooder, Howlin Wolf, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ike & Tina Turner and Captain Beefheart.
track 5: There was a time when every mix on Aotm seemed to contain 7 Nation Army. Now, you hardly ever see it, so I thought I'd rescue it from Mixer's Oblivion. It fits perfectly on a tough guy mix.

Feedback:
awww, good un here brother Dom;like the tindersticks and Mudhoney tracks esp. Incidentally, I prefer the Duellists as far as flicks go...also, wierdly enough, ran into him once walking out of a McDonalds in Breezewood, Pa, (The Crossroads of the World)...man what a visage he had!
Still a great mix :)
One of my favorite actors, and some fine songs.

my sympathies to losing your mix, the same thing happened to me. thanks for reposting.
Bigger, better, badder! Still cool after all these days Dom. I love that Little Steven song.
As I think I said last time - great stuff. That Mudhoney song has one of the heaviest pop riifs ever.
almost as cool as the man himself.
as good as the first time
Is the Trouble Man on here the one with vocals? I think a little over half of this I can get down with
I used to be a Harvey Keitel fan until Bad Lieutenant ... too much full-frontal Harvey for me ... But an interesting mix, as usual!
fantastic! I was reading something about Taxi Driver's sound design the other day, but now i can't remember where - *duh*.
