Comment:

and here be the third CD of the set for this weekend. This one was designed as kind of an introduction to what we know as "indie-rock" for some friends who haven't the slightest idea what it might be. Hopefully i'll have a few people converted by the time I'm through...wish me luck.

your speaking for all of "independent" rock. that's pretty bold considering the whole point is that it can't be categorized. no, you know what, forget that, that's wrong. there is no point. there's no mix or paragraph you could make or write to sum up "independent" rock. you are a superficial musical elitist. "a few people converted?" is music so impersonal to you that it is an ideology to which unbelievers can be converted? What do wilco and REM have in common? Think for yourself and start enjoying music because you connect to it, not because SPIN magazine produced some list whose desirability you espouse. You're as corporate as the music you claim to be "independent" from. Who's telling you what to like, you clichT?

The definition of Indie Rock is music released on an Independant Record Label!

I'm telling me what I like, actually. And I have to ask youwho is the bigger cliche: someone who tries to get people listening to music they've never heard before (most of the people i'm talking about like things like nickelback) or someone who lambastes people who's perception of what is "indie" differs from their own? Think about that before you go off trying to belittle me over a miox CD.

A lot of great tracks on here (does that make me a superficial musical elitist, too?). A lot of tracks that remind me of my formative years when I was just starting to explore and yes, enjoy music... Nice work! :)

well, REM has been on Warner, EMI, and Capitol and bon jovi and jerry lee lewis are both on the same label the velvet underground put a lot of their records out on so i guess that throws out the "independent label" definition. so i'm left with a "whatever SPIN tells me to listen to" definition. you sure are fighting the good fight, troutmask, converting the nickelback listeners of this world. didn't you hear? converting the masses to counterculture is the new listening to nickelback. and i thought it went without saying that I am not belittling you over a mix cd, i'm trying to spark a substantive discussion of what your kind does daily: "convert the the godless to christianity."

no, laura kanewitkowski, it makes you an unimaginative superficial wannabe musical elitist. unfortnetly all the real musical elitist positions were just taken up by people who actualy know something about music.

Well, it appears as though its fuzzy has found himself a cause: making fun of my mixes rather than bothering to make his own . Maybe I'd take you seriously if you bothered to do something on this site other than bash every single move i make.
