Comment:
Yeah, I know: "My So Called Life:. Ten years ago I was laughing too (at it, not with it, because I reasoned, there's nothing funny about high school or adolescence). The show only lasted one season on ABC, but when it came back in syndication on MTV I caught a few episodes out of sequence, and was hooked (because I realized that high school and the throes of adolescence are painfully hilarious when you're watching someone else suffer through it). Though some people I know will liken it to an "After-School Special", it's actually a well-written show with interesting plotlines and believable characters. It's the best thing Claire Danes has done (or will ever do) in my humble opinion. The one thing it lacked was a good soundtrack (one was released back in the day, but it didn't live up to the show; remember: this was in the days before "music featured on [insert WB show name here]" is marketed at the end of each episode. Only two songs on this mix appeared on actual episodes of "My So-Called Life": "I Wanna Be Sedated"by the Ramones and "Blister in the Sun" by the Violent Femmes. The rest is-as they say- inspired. (To those in the know: this is the March and April selection of the CD-Mix of the Month club.)Feedback:
great show. great idea. i may work on this myself.
stay tuned!
stay tuned!
this is excellent! my parents have the channel Nogin that is now showing My So Called Life and I can't wait to go home and watch some of it again. I love the show now, more so than I did back then!
I use to tape the shows for my older sister. About a year or so ago I found a couple unlablled VHS tapes in my parents basement and it was the shows I taped for my sister. With nothing else better to do I started watching the show and it was great. A little tacky and cliche but enjoyable nonetheless. You put together a great soundtrack.
