Comment:

When it comes down to it, try as I might to (slightly) mute my appreciation due to my close friendships with most of the band members (in order to make sure that I'm not *just* liking them because of these friendships), these guys are my favorite Pittsburgh band of all time. Ed Masley is basically one of the most singular, creative songwriters to grace rock and roll in a very long time and Sean Lally (yes, THAT Sean Lally) is one of my fifteen or twenty favorite guitarists of all-time (not to mention the author of the wonderful "Bloody Nose" and "Mayor of Frogtown", as well as a co-author of "File Under F," and "... Fun Years," also included above). Those who haven't heard them should most definitely make some inquiries... and should check out Ed's new band, the Breakup Society (whose album was actually recorded as the "next" Framptons record). I know that Sean will disagree with some of my selections, but I'm pretty pleased with the result here. Last tracks cut: "A Million Shades of Blue," "How Much About Last Night Do You Remember,""Mr. Airbrush Man", "Here Inside My Head," "You Didn't Have to Listen," "Poor Serious Girl," "Drag," "Everyday People #12 & 45," "Straightenin' Up," "Redneck Girl," "Sand," "Monkey Bowl", "Big Stoopid World,""She's Reading All the Wrong Fanzines (Again)," "Miss America Cares" and "Dwarf Bowling". Revised extensively on 6/12/05 to include rare, non-album (and, in many cases, completely unreleased) tracks.

I get down down to the Pittsburgh area a couple of times each year. Sounds like I should check out the live music scene instead of hanging around with the in-laws....

Gee Rob, this is swell to see. You've hit some of my faves, although I'm not a giant fan of the songs you cut (which is probably why they never really saw the light of day) - by the way, I think that all of those songs are on the new Frampton Brothers bootleg cd (available at fine houses on Waldron street). I"m really touched by your comments about my guitaring and songwriting. What can I say but thanks a million. I still love most of the songs on this comp, especially 6, 16, 24, and 27.

I'm heading down to Pittsburgh this weekend. Second time in a month. Rob and Sean have both given me a list of places to check out and I've been having a great time. A very cool place.

I'm unfamiliar with Sean's Band although I did check them out a while back on Amazon and listened to a few samples (u never can tell from them) but nice to see a tribute mix for friends!

I've often felt bad for having never checked out the Framptons. Especially after passing on a disc spotted in Tower's cut-out bin. Would really liked to hear this one.

Dammit, I really need to get around to hearing this group. Everything I've read and been able to listen to promises that it will be excellent stuff.

Nice mix, Rob. I'd add "Do The Chair" and "Bigger Than Jesus" to the list of great Frampton Bros. songs that never made it to CD. In the interests of introducing friends to the oeuvre of Messrs. Masley and Lally, I put together a Frampton Brothers/Breakup Society mix of my own -- check out "The Frampton Society" on my list of mixes.
